Arnold I. Davidson, Structures and Strategies of Discourse: Remarks Towards a History of Foucault’s Philosophy of Language

 

La raccolta e pubblicazione postuma di alcuni saggi di Michel Foucault ha mostrato l’importanza, nella sua opera, del rapporto tra filosofia, politica e linguaggio. A partire dall’approfondimento di alcuni di questi fondamentali saggi, l’Autore individua nella centralità dell’analisi sulle discorsività (richiamandosi a Wittgenstein e con particolare riferimento alla “political analysis of discourse”) la possibilità di far emergere i “giochi di potere”, ossia le relazioni strategiche tra singolo e collettività, che costituiscono, nel pensiero foucaultiano, il rapporto circolare potere-sapere-etica.

The importance of the relationship between philosophy, politics and language was underlined by the posthumous collection and publication of some essays written by Michel Foucault. Starting from the close examination of some of these fundamental essays, the author detects – within the centrality of the analysis of discourses (referring to Wittgenstein and in particular to the “political analysis of discourse” – the possibility to bring out the “games of power”, i.e. the strategic relationships between individual and society, which are the basis, according to Foucault, of the circular relation ship power-knowledge-ethics.
