Luce Irigaray, Before every sexual choice, our identity is sexed
Being man or woman establishes our way to feel the world: affirming that our identity is sexed means this. It is a matter, then, of an identity which is neither neuter nor neutral and that defines our relationship with ourselves, with the world and with the other. For this, the difference cannot be limited neither just to biology nor just to social components and the study of language has always been, according to the well-known scholar of the difference, a fundamental instrument for the search and for the identification of a relational identity of male and female individuals.
