Gabriele Lavia, Theatre, origins, ethos (Interview by Nicole Bosco)
This short but intense interview explores issues of great cultural importance, such as the ethic extent of theatrical experience nowadays: for directors, for actors, for audience. Indeed it is this commitment – when it is present – which allows, according to Gabriele Lavia, to go through the original meaning of theatre so as to let its ancient power emerge again. In fact, according to Lavia, it is neither a matter of imprinting one’s own mark to the performance, nor of reproducing it in its supposed purity or in its presumptuous loyalty, but rather of creating a communio between actor and audience through personified words.
