Elvira Bonfanti, Mara Morelli, Danila Deluise, The Damned, who?
This paper describes a mediation experience carried out in a prison in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico among prisoners and which is well known by the authors. The first part of the paper describes the setting and how the job is being carried out; then, the authors reflect on the essential theoretical framework of community mediation and its highly interdisciplinary contents, as well as the importance of bearing in mind the connection between training and culture. A short paragraph delves deeper into the mediation training course’s aims and organization, followed by some comments on the term “Damned” in various languages. This reminds us of the limitations and ambiguities of definitions and terms, thus encompassing a bird’s-eye view which is meant to open although it actually ends this paper.
