Mario Gennari, Bildung and crisis of culture

 

In the cultural crisis of modernity, the author places, in this essay, through a continuous dialogue with Antonio Erbetta, the radical change of the Bildung concept. At a time, like the present one, of dramatic economical changes and 178of constant dispossession of the reflective abilities of the individual, the Bildung loses its own origins, cutting off the relationship between individual and Weltanschauung. In the tragic nature of such crisis, it turns into Erlernung, i.e. an education regarded only as learning speed, that leaves no time to critical reason
