Claude Burgelin, Memories of a university literature teacher. France, 1968-2011

While retracing his own personal experience as university teacher, Claude Burgelin offers a picture of the history of literature teaching in France during the last four decades. Such picture brings out a well structured path made of research, experimentation, enthusiasm; it reaches, however, a worrying epilogue: the weakening of the innovative impetus, the superficiality of specialist knowledge, the marginalization of humanistic studies. On the contrary, a real multidisciplinary afterthought of literary contents should be encouraged.
