Gábor Csordás

Gábor Csordás was born in Pécs, Hungary, graduated in Medical School of Pécs University in 1974 and thereafter worked on brain research in the Institute of Physiology of that university. In 1980 he gave up his scientific carreer for literature, became editor and then editor-in-chief of the literary magazine Jelenkor. After the fall of the Berlin wall he founded a publishing house under the same name. He published three books of poems and essays on various literary topics and questions of intercultural communication. Translated poems, novels and philosophical works from Polish, Serbian, Croatian, English, French, German and English language. He is a recipient of the József Attila Prize, the Translation Award of Serbian Pen Club, the Solidarność Memorial Award and the Leipziger Buchpreis zur Europäischen Verständigung.
