Ivan Bonnin, Biamonti and Western Liguria: a frontier landscape

This paper focuses on the ‘frontier landscape’ described by Francesco Biamonti in his work. The peculiar Western Liguria distorted by the sensitivity of the writer from San Biagio della Cima, with its countless minor frontier stories, emerges as an absolute protagonist of the story and the boundary entity portrays it decisively. The relation between Biamonti’s writing and the frontier is therefore intimate and intense. Hence, the reader can get inspired in order to reflect upon issues that are dear to the author: above all, the ancient Mediterranean pietas  right in the middle of the storm of history.
