Silvano Calvetto, For an education of the unthought-of. Reflections upon Massa e Potere by Elias Canetti

Starting from a look at the main themes analysed by Elias Canetti in Masse und Macht, the author offers a reflection upon the nexus power/education. Two issues – closely linked together –arise from this study. The first one concerns the educational valorisation of the unthought-of, which was analysed by Canetti for a long time. The second one concerns the relationship between metamorphosis and knowledge as peculiar issue from the point of view of education. Masse und Macht is an exemplar model of such a relationship, either with regard to the contents or to the research method.
