The paper will focus on some main themes regarding social pedagogy: the meaning of “life worthy of living” and the contrast (legal, political and cultural) between person and non-person. Starting from some paradigmatic elements of the construction of Western societies, the act of education, in his critical ethical moral perspective, questions and problematizes the concept of citizenship, trying to unravel the contradictions lying in the transformation of the “social contract” which, beyond any idealization of coexistence and tolerance, is more and more going in the direction of inclusion and exclusion, identifying life in the context (not only in the legal one) of those who do have rights and who, on the contrary, do not.
