Il saggio propone, attraverso una articolata ricostruzione storica, la stretta relazione esistente tra etica e pedagogia, valutandola nella sua dimensione di possibilità dell’agire individuale. La libertà, in questo contesto, si confronta con concetti quali responsabilità, colpa, autonomia. Prendendo come riferimenti Kant e Schopenhauer, fino a giungere a pensatori che, nella modernità, hanno affrontato in maniera problematica il rapporto tra etica e formazione, l’Autore rintraccia una linea di unità che tiene insieme indissolubilmente le trasformazioni del concetto stesso di etica e il progredire della vita storica.

This essay proposes, through a well-structured historical reconstruction, the close relationship between ethics and Education, assessing it in its dimension of possibility of individual acting. In this context, freedom is compared to concepts such as responsibility, guilt, autonomy. Making reference to Kant and Schopenhauer, and then to some thinkers who, in modern times, have tackled the relationship between ethics and education in a problematic way, the author retraces a line of unity which indissolubly keeps together the changes of the concept of ethics and the progress of historical life.
